Last February 2008, feeling adventurous and all, I went off with Dennis and Pia together with my crazy officemates to Canibad….an island in Brgy. Aundanao, Samal. We heard about the place through Jed and got so intrigued with the photographs we saw of the island. According to sources, it is a secret paradise…
And so after all plans have been carefully ironed out, at a very early morning, we met at Sasa wharf to board a barge towards Samal port. From there, we rode a rental jeepney @ Php75.00 each which took us to Brgy. Aundanao. The trip took almost an hour…a scorching hour of rough and dusty road but then again, there was no stopping us.
Finally, the driver declared “we’re here!” Yahoo!!! But to my dismay, we were still to go down a very steep hill to finally arrive to the so claimed “secret paraiso!” But then again, the experience at that hill was fun.
Finally finally, we arrived!!! Canibad at last! I must say after seeing the island, all that we had to go through getting to this place was all so worth it. I fell in love with it right after seeing how the combinations of green and lush coco trees, the bluest blue but very clear waters, the white sands, rock formations and the peaceful ambiance made it perfect for stress release. I felt relaxed right away…
I had a blast in the island. I had so much fun taking a dip at dusk…
…enjoyed sitting by the bonfire Jed made at night…
…got open-mouthed at the starry skies (something you’ll never see in the city)…
…amazed at the firefly-filled tree beside our cottage…
…sleeping with the soothing sound of the waves as lullaby…
…breathe-taken with the lovely sunrise…
…photoshoot at the rock formations….
…and had simple but real good food.
Amazing place… Good food… Super fun company….
I just like to share some tips if you decide to check out the place…
1. There is still no electricity so if you have chargeable lights, bring one.
2. Bring drinking water.
3. Bring spiked shoes or slippers (for going down and climbing the hill).
I guess that’s it…there are stores there so you need not bring beverages. They sell a 1 liter coke at Php30.00 only. But then again, that was still last February.
