Most people say time heals all wounds but I disagree, because wounds, especially deep ones, leave scars. A scar that will always be a reminder of the wound...of the pain. With this, I believe it is incorrect to say that when you forgive, you forget as well, because the latter is a very difficult thing to do. It is easy to forgive but never the same when forgetting. Apology may be easily accepted but mending the damages could possibly take forever. And so, we have to be very careful in causing pain or in hurting someone, most especially the ones we love most, because they may be able to forgive us in a heartbeat but could never forget the act even for a lifetime.

March of the Penguins

I was watching Hitman today when the girl character, while reading from a magazine said that penguins, once they meet their mate, they stick to that mate for life. I thought how sweet and so I started searching the net about them and this is what I found out. [By the way, in all honesty, it was only today that I knew penguins are birds! Yes, you may laugh at me but true, I just knew that today.]

The signature species of Antarctica is the penguin. There are 17 species of penguins some of which are found as far north as the equator. Penguins are categorized into three families: brush-tail, crested, and king/emperor penguins. Of the 17 species only six are found in Antarctica (Adélies, Chinstraps, Emperors, Gentoos, Macaronis, and Rockhoppers). Several other species are sometimes found within the Antarctic region, and penguins are found as far north as the Galapagos Islands, straddling the equator.

Flightless Birds
Penguins are mostly referred to as “flippered flyers” due to their effortless movement in the water. All penguins have a very similar torpedo-shaped body form, though they vary greatly in size. Penguin wings are highly modified to form stiff paddle-like flippers used for swimming, and their feet and stubby tails combine to form a rudder. The penguin's bones are solid and heavy, which help them to remain submerged and reduce the energy needed for diving. Some species spend as much as 75% of their lives in the ocean, yet they all breed on land or sea-ice attached to the land. They are able to withstand the extreme cold because insulation provided by their short, densely-packed feathers forms a waterproof coat. A thick layer of fat or blubber also serves as an energy store. These adaptations, among others, enable them to minimize heat loss in icy cold waters so they can cope with the harsh conditions of the Antarctic.

Behavior
Penguins communicate by complex ritual behaviors such as head and flipper waving, calling, bowing, gesturing and preening. Territorial disputes lead to aggressive postures such as stares, pointing and even charging. Courtship and mating rituals include so called "ecstatic displays" where a bird, typically an unattached male, pumps his chest several times and, with his head stretched upwards and flippers akimbo, emits a harsh loud braying sound. This can result in a mass trumpeting by other males, which is believed to help synchronize the breeding cycle.

Breeding
All the Antarctic penguin species save the Emperor breed in the brief austral (southern) summer months. Mating takes place in spring for the three "brush tailed" (pygoscelid) species -- the Chinstrap, Gentoo and Adelie -- who make their nests out of rocks, bones and feathers. Adult pairs take turns incubating their eggs and feeding the chicks once they have hatched. Antarctic penguins feed mostly on fish, squid and krill, a shrimp-like crustacean which is the key species in the Antarctic ecosystem.

Locomotion
Penguins are very efficient swimmers. Though they are comfortable at speeds around 5 mph (8 km/ph), some species can travel at 7 mph (12 km/ph) in short bursts. When traveling quickly, penguins will leap clear of the water every few feet -- an action called "porpoising" due to its resemblance to porpoise behavior. This enables them to breathe, and decreases their chances of being taken by a predator.

Antarctic penguins have also developed the ability to leap out of the water to a substantial height on land, enabling them to reach raised ice edges or rock ledges. Penguin legs are set far down on their bodies, so they walk with a very erect posture. Ashore they are often awkward, waddling and hopping over rocks; on snow they sometimes push themselves along on their stomachs.

Colonies
Antarctic penguins are highly social birds which usually breed in large colonies called "rookeries". Healthy adult penguins have no predators on land, so they have no natural fear of humans. While they don't like to be approached directly, they will sometimes come quite close to a quiet observer due to their own natural curiosity. They do have predators, however: skuas and southern giant petrels will attack chicks and sick or injured adults.
Adelie Penguin (Pygoscelis adeliae)
With its white "shirt" front and white ring around its eyes, the Adelie (ah-DAY-lee) is the stereotypical penguin. They are the smallest and most widely distributed penguins in the Antarctic -- adults weigh only about 12 pounds (5.5 kg) and stand but 28 inches (71cm) high. Named after the wife of the French explorer Admiral Durmont d' Urville, the Adelie is also the most commonly studied of all the penguin species. It is estimated there are some 2.5 million pairs of Adelies around the continent. Adelie colonies form on islands, beaches and headlands all around the Antarctic coast. The presence of groups of hundreds of thousands of birds is not unusual.

Adelie penguins come ashore in October to breed during the brief weeks of summer. Mating takes place once the pair establishes a rocky nest. Older birds tend to stake nesting sites in the middle of the colony where they are better protected from marauding skuas. There is fierce competition for nesting sites, especially on the higher well-drained ground -- stealing pebbles from neighboring birds' nests is a favorite pastime.

The first eggs are laid in early November; if the incubating egg is left unattended for more than an hour or two, it will cool and become infertile. When nests are abandoned the eggs are easy prey for skuas, which are the Adelie penguin's main enemy on land. Males and females take turns incubating the eggs. Within hours of laying the eggs, the female returns to the sea, leaving the male to stand alone for up to ten days while his partner feeds. Most pairs produce two eggs separated by an interval of two to three days, and incubation takes about thirty days. While the two chicks hatch almost simultaneously, inevitably one chick is stronger and consequently better able to win food from its parents.

The chicks are fed from the crop of whichever parent is present at the time. The chicks are brooded closely by their parents for the first two to three weeks and their appetite is considerable. Growing rapidly, the chicks soon develop a thick woolly gray down and quickly become almost as large as their parents. During the third or fourth week they join other chicks in crèches or nursery groups. This leaves both parents free to go to sea to feed themselves in order to satisfy their chicks' increasing demands for food.

A parade of adults can regularly be seen moving between the colony and the sea. The birds congregate in large numbers at the water's edge waiting for the appropriate moment to take the plunge. The Adelie's main oceanic predators are the leopard seals which often lie in wait beneath the ledges to snare the first penguin into the water. By late March most Adelies have left the colonies to spend the winter in the comparative warmth of the offshore pack ice.
Adelie penguins provided generations of early explorers with entertainment, palatable eggs, and tough but tasty meat. Through detailed studies of the birds's breeding and eating behavior, scientists today use the Adelie as an indicator species to monitor the abundance of krill, so important to the web of Antarctic life.

Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri)
The most regal of species, the Emperor is the largest living penguin, standing 40 to 50 inches (100 to 130 cm) and weighing from 66 to 83 pounds (30 to 33 kg ). There are some 350,000 of these elegantly painted birds in about forty Emperor penguin colonies scattered around the fringes of the Antarctic continent. The colonies are usually found on sea-ice during the winter and spring months, when temperatures are as low as - 65° F ( - 60° C) and winds reach velocities of up to 112 miles per hour (180 km/ph).

Emperor penguins are the most biologically interesting of the southern species. They have been recorded diving to a depth of more than 1500 feet (450 m) for up to 18 minutes, although the usual depth and duration of their dives is much less. But it is their unique breeding behavior that differentiates the Emperor from other penguin species.

Rather than breeding during the warmer, lighter summer months, Emperors breed through the cold, dark winter. The female lays a single egg in May after a 63-day gestation period, and then passes the egg over to her mate and goes to sea to feed. When the male takes over the incubation, he fasts for 9 weeks, all the while balancing the egg on his feet, where it is insulated by a thick roll of skin and feathers. During this period the males huddle together for added warmth and protection against the bitter winds and sub-zero temperatures. By the time the female returns the male will have lost up to one third of his body weight; she takes over feeding the now-hatched chick for a six week period, while the male makes another long trek over the ice -- up to 60 miles (100 kms) to find food.

Once the young are about seven weeks old, they join other chicks in a crèche, which is protected by a few adults. By January the sea-ice begins to break out, but by this time the chicks have begun to shed their soft down and are able to fend for themselves. The Emperors are believed to have developed this winter breeding pattern to allow the chick to grow to independence at a time when food is most plentiful. The large size of the adults means they can store enough fat to withstand the long winter weeks without regular feeding.

Gentoo Penguins (Pygoscelis papua)
Gentoos (jen-TOOs) are found over the widest range of any penguin, appearing on the coastal islands as well as the cooler sub-antarctic islands. The Gentoo penguin is the largest of the brush-tailed genus, averaging some 30 inches (75 cm) and weighing 12 pounds (5.5kg). They breed mainly on the Antarctic Peninsula and sub-antarctic islands. Two eggs are laid in September or October and hatching usually takes about 35 to 39 days from the laying of the last egg. The second egg is smaller than the first, and is laid three days later. After they are three-quarters grown, the young can look after themselves and leave the nests to form large crèches, usually in January. Gentoos are thought to fish closer to the surface than other species, although they can dive to at least 330 feet (100m).

Chinstrap Penguin (Pygoscelis antarctica)
Chinstrap penguins are named for the distinctive narrow band of black feathers that extends from ear to ear. Chinstraps may be the most numerous of penguins, with a population estimated at 12 to 13 million. Yet they occur only on the Antarctic Peninsula and the sub-antarctic islands south of the Antarctic Convergence. For nesting, they often select lofty sites that are the first to become snow-free, to ensure the maximum amount of time to raise their chicks. Chinstraps are regarded as the boldest and most pugnacious of the pygoscelid species; they average 28 to 29 inches (71 to 76 cm) in height and weigh some 8.6 to 9.7 pounds (3.9 - 4.4 kg).
The Crested Penguins
Other species of penguins found in Antarctica occur mostly in the warmer sub-antarctic regions to the north, away from the limit of the pack-ice. These include the Rockhopper, the Macaroni (both of the crested genus), and the King penguin. The King breeds on South Georgia, and Macquarie and Heard islands, while the Macaroni occurs as far south as the South Shetlands. Rockhopper penguins do not breed south of Heard Island (53°S), located in the mid-South Atlantic between South America and Australia.

This is an article on how A.A.A.D.D. manifests.

I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide my car needs washing.

As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, s o I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke that I had been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I see that the Coke is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need to be watered. I set the Coke down on the counter, and I disco ver my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day: the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter, the flowers don't have enough water, there is still only one check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.

The Hospital Window

This is a very moving story, I had to take deep breaths after reading it and was teary-eyed. I wish I had the blind man's ability of selflessly making others happy despite his situation as physically disabled.
Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end.

They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

Epilogue:

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present."

One time, while I was doing some stuff at my station, my boss called me up and asked me if I would like to taste a coffee that is cat poop?

"Eh?!, I said." But then, curious as I was, I said sure. So I went to his office and he showed me his newly purchased bottle of Alamid Coffee also known as Civet Coffee or Kopi Luwak. He was already brewing and gave me a half-filled cup of it. Like any other brewed coffee, it's taste is much stronger compared to other processed coffees. When I got back to my table, I surfed the net right away about this coffee.

According to sources, only 500 kilograms of it are produced in the Philippines every year. Once roasted, the coffee beans sell for more than $115/kilogram. Whew!!! As to how this coffee is processed is definitely intriguing. The coffee beans are harvested, not from trees, but from the droppings of the palm civet (local name alamid), a nocturnal cat-like animal.

Yes, the beans in the picture are "droppings!" The animals eat the coffee cherries but can’t digest the beans and so they poop it out. The droppings are then harvested by hand from the forest floor. The beans are then cleaned up, air dried and roasted. And that's how the most expensive coffee in the world is produced.

I just couldn't stop laughing while reading this....
I thought Jay's ex-girlfriend was really out of our lives. But heaven only goes that I was wrong. Kakakasal pa lang namin nun when Jay received a uninamous text. "Meet me at the clinic." I had a stinking feeling in my butt. I told him not to go. It might in danger him. Pero sabi niya, ok lang daw because life is what we make.
Tumahimik lang ako. Sabi niya, "Penny for you talks." But I didn't know what to say. Beggars can't be losers. Isa pa, worried talaga ako na baka yung girl yun. Jay said, "Can't got your tongue?" I tried to smile at him. Kahit di ako nagsalita, actions speak louder than works, di ba?
Be that as is may, umalis pa rin siya. I was out of the loophole. After a few hours, I called him on his cellphone. But my calls fell on Jeff's ears. Lalo akong nag-worry kasi I didn't even know Jeff. Sabi na nga ba di na dapat umalis si Jay. That's what I'm talking about it.
So I tried calling some friends who will help me find Jay. That's what friends are for naman di ba? But I just faced a blank mall. I had to do this alone. Nag-taxi na lang ako. Pero ang mahal na pala ng plugdown rate.
When I got to the clinic, the security was really buffed up. Di basta-basta makakapasok. So I said, "I beg your cordon. I'm patient. It's my favorite virtue nga e." Nagduda yata yung isang guard. Hinawakan ako sa arm. The nerd! I shouted, "Don't touch me not!" Buti na lang the other guards were nice and said, "Come on, let's join us."
When I went inside, parang I've been there, done there. Nung walang nakatingin, nag-explore ako. Nakarating ako sa top floor and I had a bird's IQ of the clinic. I could not explain it but I was drawn to a room on the floor. Siguro Divine Intermission na yun.
Parang may narinig akong umuungol. I was thorn. Di ko alam kung aalis ba ako o papasukin ko. It made me stick in the stomach to think that Jay and his ex-girlfriend were there. I tried to tell myself to slower my expectations. But to tell with it! I had to strike while the ironi s not. I had to hear the truth from the corpse's mouth.
I barraged in. O my gas! Si Jay, naka-strap sa operating table, parang genie pig sa isang nakakatakot na experiment. He was on the cutting edge. He was bleeding. At ang doctor na nagpapahirap sa kanya, ang ex-girlfriendniya at ang bago nitong boyfriend, ang nurse na si Walter. Doon ko napatunayang blood is thicker than Walter.
Guess watch? Di ko alam kung paano ko nagawa pero I was able to search and rescue Jay. Siguro adrenaline brush na yun. Now, he's recovering. Nag-sorry siya na hindi siya nakinig sa akin. I know it's a better pill to swallow your fried so it's forgive and forget me not.
All swell that end swell. I know we should kiss and puton makeup. Ang ex-girlfriend naman niya at si Walter, nakakulong na. Detention is really better than cure. So the moral of the lesson is: if symptoms persist, insult your doctor.

After Ludwig Van Beethoven's death in March 1827 two documents were discovered in his desk. These were the Heiligenstadt Testament and 3 love letters. The passionate feelings manifested in these letters where addressed to a person unknown. Many have speculated over whom might be the recipient, made more difficult by the fact that there is no year or place given on the letters. But Solomon, the author of Beethoven’s life's biography, following Beethoven's date on the letters, his movement during the period (1812) and studying the persons close to Beethoven, has come to the solution that Antoine Brentano must be the answer, now generally accepted as being correct. <-- (Got this background from Wikipedia.)
I only posted here the third love letter since it is what touched me the most. It is also the letter Carrie read in the movie Sex and the City. The last 3 lines were the lines Big whispered to Carrie when they got married. I so loved that movie and since I couldn't get a hold of the book Love Letters of Great Men and Women, the book Carrie was reading in the movie, I hopefully searched the net just to get a hold of this one.

The Third Letter:

Good morning, on July 7, though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us. I can live only wholly with you or not at all. Yes, I am resolved to wander so long away from you until I can fly to your arms and say that I am really at home with you, and can send my soul enwrapped in you into the land of spirits. Yes, unhappily it must be so. You will be the more contained since you know my fidelity to you. No one else can ever possess my heart. Never Never. Oh God, why must one be parted from one whom one so loves? And yet my life in V is now a wretched life. Your love makes me at once the happiest and the unhappiest of men. At my age I need a steady, quiet life. Can that be so in our connection? My angel, I have just been told that the mailcoach goes every day, therefore I must close at once so that you may receive the letter at once. Be calm, only by a calm consideration of our existence can we achieve our purpose o live together. Be calm. Love me. Today. Yesterday. What tearful longings for you you. You. My life. My all. Farewell. Oh continue to love me, never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved.

Ever thine.

Ever mine.

Ever ours.

Sa Aking Pagtanda

I received this article from a friend and it totally touched my heart. It reminded me of my mom who died almost 3 years now. It made me miss her so much. I'm really close to my mom and it tore me apart when she left. Remembering her death is still agonizingly painful even 'til now, I couln't stop the tears from falling. I am very lucky to have said "I love you" to my mom as my last words before she died.

To my readers, never tire from saying I love you to your parents because they never get tired in loving you.

"Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have been with a loose woman."

The priest asked, "Is that you, little Johnny Parisi?"

"Yes, Father it is."

"And who was the woman you were with?"

"I can't tell you, Father. I don't want to ruin her reputation."

"Well, Johnny, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later, so you may as well tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti?"

"I cannot say."

"Was it Teresa Volpe?"

"I'll never tell."

"Was it Nina Capeli?"

"I'm sorry but I cannot name her."

"Was it Cathy Piriano?"

"My lips are sealed."

"Was it Rosa Di Angelo, then?"

"Please, Father, I cannot tell you."

The priest sighs in frustration. "You're very tight lipped, Johnny Parisi and I admire that. But you've sinned and have to atone. You cannot attend church services for 4 months. Now you go and behave yourself."

Johnny walks back to his pew, and his friend Nino slides over and whispers, "What'd you get?"

"Four months vacation and five good leads. "

Interviewer said "I shall either ask you ten easy questions or one really difficult question. Think well before you make up your mind!"

The boy thought for a while and said, "my choice is one really difficult question."

"Well, good luck to you, you have made your own choice! Now tell me this. "What comes first, Day or Night?"

The boy was jolted into reality as his admission depends on the correctness of his answer, but he thought for a while and said, "It's the DAY, sir!"

"How?" the interviewer asked.

"Sorry, sir, you promised me that you will not ask me a SECOND difficult question!"

The Little Lulu Show

The Little Lulu Show is my favorite cartoon show ever!!! I can still remember during college days, I'd never leave the house until I finish watching Little Lulu. She is a just little kid but with very smart talking. I miss watching Little Lulu, too bad it's not being aired anymore.

Below is a summary of the show's history. I got this via this link - - > http://www.tv.com/the-little-lulu-show/show/10363/summary.html

In Peeksil, New York there is a girl named Lulu Moppet. She and her gang of friends are always getting into trouble, solving mysteries, studying, doing something at school, or just hanging out. Lulu's father George is always sitting on the couch watching television, and bribing Lulu with money to do his duties, although Martha (Lulu's mom) always catches him. Lulu's best friend Annie is as smart as Lulu and helps Lulu in her plans to get revenge on Tubby and the fellers. Then there is Iggie, Tubby, Willie, Eddie, and Alvin who are members of The East Side Club and there are the rich couple Wilbur Van Snobbe and Gloria Darling. The Little Lulu Show lasted for for 3 seasons, 52 episodes. Each episode was formatted with three, 7-minute stories, and two 60-second short films.

Though The Little Lulu Show premiered in 1995, what you little kids may not know is that Little Lulu and friends first saw the light of day almost 70 years ago. In 1935, Marjorie Henderson Buell brought to the world the first Little Lulu comic strip. Since then Little Lulu, Tubby, Annie, and the rest of the gang have made appearances in comic books, commercials, short cartoons, and many other forms of media. If you'd like to read some Little Lulu comics,...click here
These cartoons (many of them, at least) are 50-to-60-year-old stories, animated versions of the Little Lulu comic books from the 1940's and 50's. (John Stanley, who's been dead for years already, wrote the stories--though he did it as an employee of the comic book publisher and was never credited.) So that makes it even more remarkable how good they are!

First Telecast: November 11, 1995
Last Telecast: February 21, 1999
Show Type: Animated Comedy
Episodes: 52 color episodes

The Characters:

Lulu: Feisty, resourceful, the plucky Lulu truely is a star. Lulu is not only a little girl, but a stand-up comedian. Lulu, we love you-lu just the same!

Tubby Tubby lives up to his name. Decked-out as a little sailor, Tubby may be Lulu's friend, but he can be a real practical joker too. Not too bright either.

Annie: Annie is Lulu's best girlfriend (and no, not "gay" girl friends). Annie is younger than Lulu, but is a faithful little sidekick. Older sister to Iggie.

Iggie: One of the "fellers". Iggie is a member of Tubby's club. Iggie's no brighter than Tubby, but can be quite standoffish. Little brother to Annie.

Willie: Another member of Tubby's club. He's the oldest of the gang.

Eddie: Yet another member of Tubby's club. Hangs out with Willie.

Alvin: The little pest of the neighborhood. He's always scheming his way into making Lulu tell him a story.

Wilbur: The richest and most rotten kid in town. In fact, his last name tells just what a "Van Snobbe" he is.

Gloria: The prettiest girl in town, who the fellers all go "gaga" for.

Officer McNabb: The British patrolman of the town.

The Westside Boys: The biggest, meanest bullies from the Westside of town. They're always terrorising Tubby and the club.

George and Martha: Lulu's parents. Martha is a doting mother, while George is always sneaking out of his chores.

Trivia:

-Little Lulu first appeared in "The Saturday Evening Post" in 1935.
-There was an unsuccessful TV attemp in the 1970's called "Little Lulu and Friends".
-Wilbur Van Snobbe's original name was "Wilber Van Snobble".
-Jane Woods and Bruce Dinsmore also lended their voice talents to Wimzie's House.
-Annie was supposed to be a preschooler, but why would Lulu hang out with a preschooler?
-Lulu's parents aren't the only cartoon couple with the names "George and Martha".

The Poet In Me

I tried to wait
But you never came
I tried to listen
But you never spoke
I stumbled
But you never helped me up
I cried
But you didn't calm me
I died, then I realized,
You never did love me...

I like writing poems especially at times when my emotions are its extremes. I started writing poems when I was in second year high school and I really could not remember what inspired me to do so.

The poem above is the first ever poem I was able to come up with. It was just a 10-liner poem but it made its way to the school paper. It got published in both my high school and college papers. That is why I'm kinda proud of this poem.

Someone asked me for whom did I dedicate this to and with all honesty, noone at that time when I wrote it because I wasn't a bit in love.

I just read one of Ludwig Van Beethoven's famous love letter and a line there inspired me to write this article...

To be apart from the one you love most is the most agonizing thing one could ever have to go through. To have sleepless nights of constant thoughts of your love could be as cruel as death itself. And with this, I so wonder….

Why do lovers who claim to so dearly love each other choose to be apart? I could not comprehend how this should be.

I do not judge them with their reasons as it may be most true for them. Still, I am left puzzled.

To have witnessed several common situations as this, though with different grounds, I could not help but be saddened with the thought that they have to submit themselves to endless desire of being with the ones they love most - - the ones they claim as their life, their all.

Why be apart when you know you will be happiest together? Tell me please, help me grasp what you thought is best for you and your love.

As for me who has been in love with and loved by my truest love for almost eight years now, I would not have the courage to bid goodbye and be separated to him. It would cause my heart to unstoppably bleed. It would cause a lot of anguish…of sorrow… I so dread to feel.

So to you, who bravely opted to separate yourself from your most true love, tell me this, are you happy now?

I just got back from a one day exploration of the island of Camiguin last May 30th. I’ve wanted to visit the place ever since but never got the chance due to my work’s very hectic schedule. Good thing my boss permitted my applied vacation leave and with my constant pleading to my husband, he finally agreed to use his remaining leave credit and be with me on my vacation. Of course, we brought along our 6 year old daughter, Pia who was all excited as well.

I always loved to travel that is why even with the knowledge that the trip to the island requires almost 10 hours, I never hesitated to take it. And so the trip started off….

We reached Benoni Port, Camiguin at exactly 6:30 AM on May 30th with a very lovely sunrise greeting us. It was enough to take away the exhaustion from the very long trip we just made.

Now, what did I love about Camiguin? Let me enumerate….

First, I love the coastal roads they have. The trip going to our ecolodge, Enigmata, which took about 30 minutes, didn’t bore me at all since the view and the beach definitely entertained me.

Second, Camiguin has lots of ancestral houses…and they can be found right in the main streets of the island and since I love antiques, I’m always left opened-mouth every time I spot one. Too bad, I was not able to take pictures of every house I saw but I got one though, the ancestral house of the Corrales family, a famous clan in the island.

Third, I love the oldie feeling of the Gui-ob Church Ruins. I love looking at the details of the walls of the church. You can still see shells and rocks that penetrated the walls, probably due to the eruption of the old volcano.

Fourth, their beaches are so inviting with bluish-greenish clear waters. You can’t help but be tempted to take a dip.

Fifth, I could laze in their coldest cold spring even at mid-day!!! You will never feel the heat of the sun when you’re sank in their cold spring pools.

Sixth, even how exhausting it was to climb the walkway to the old volcano, the experience of having reached the top and experiencing the 15 Stations of the Cross was very fulfilling. You’ll probably wonder how the people were able to get the statues up there.

Seventh, I loved having to experience sunset at the White Island, one of my best moments ever, especially with the fact that I spent it with Dennis and Pia, my best friends.

Eight, I loved the fact that I was able to finally stay and sleep in a treehouse which is a childhood dream of mine. A dream fulfilled in Camiguin. The house was filled with artistically made crafts… by creative hands and minds. A piece of art!

Ninth, I could sleep in their hot spring forever!!! It was truly therapeutic. All the exhaustion from our 1 day tour vanished after a 2 hour dip in the hot spring. I so loved it!!!

Tenth, I had one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten my whole life in Camiguin! We had lunch at the Sto. Niño Cold Spring…we had tinolang lapu-lapu, sinugbang songhan (my first time to eat this fish and it was incredibly delicious!) and deep-fried native chicken (so tasty!) To add, we had fresh bukos as beverages!!! Super sulit meal and all at Php 452.00 only.

Camiguin is indeed one of the best memories I have…

A Love Letter

This is a love letter written by Juan Luna...I just don't know for whom...It's quiet a sad love letter I should say, and I love it....

Someday my dearest, some things will be easier to understand. Time takes care of the truths we hold in our hearts, the most sacred things that sometimes have to be hidden, even from ourselves. We both accepted the uncertainty that threatened all our tomorrows and we tried not to let it matter and yet, it does matter for what use is a world that can only be real for a moment. Somehow, we all seek an amount of uncertainty in out lives, or else we lose whatever little grasp we have of the future.

I’ll always love you. That’s the only thing that will remain with me even after everything else has gone. What we had is the most real thing that even happened in my life. However, much it had been cloaked by deceit and lies. I don’t think that there could be anything else I would live or die for.

But we can’t continue to live within this world we’ve created for ourselves when another world exists outside, a world that will never give us a chance. I would have wanted to risk everything for you, but I can’t. Some realities are just far greater that you and I can’t continue to fight.

You and me, it was such a good dream.

Someone forwarded me this article and it does make a lot of sense...^__^

We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes; but the plural of ox became oxen not oxes. One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese, yet the plural of moose should never be meese. You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice; yet the plural of house is houses, not hice. If the plural of man is always called men, why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen? If I spoke of my foot and show you my feet, and I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet? If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth, why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth? Then one may be that, and three would be those, yet hat in the plural would never be hose, and the plural of cat is cats, not cose. We speak of a brother and also of brethren, but though we say mother, we never say methren. Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him, but imagine the feminine, she, shis and shim. Let's face it, English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square, and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea, nor is it a pig. And why is it that writers write, but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce, and hammers don't ham? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends, but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? Sometimes, I think all the folks who grew up speaking English should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what other language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down; in which you fill in a form by filling it out, and in which an alarm goes off by going on.

Ang masasabi ko lang...oo nga naman....

When I was just a kid, whenever we go road tripping, I often experience nausea and I still have this travel sickness even until now and so I’d still have to take a pill every time I go traveling. Fortunately, Pia, my 6 year old kid, doesn’t have the same that is why as young as she is now, we’d take her wherever we go. And this kid’s got too much energy; I really wonder where it’s coming from knowing that she’s really petite.

Her first long trip was when she was still 5 years old…to Butuan. We were attending my inaanak’s baptismal and so we brought her along. We were very worried that she might get tantrums while in the bus or might go pee all the time so I had to force her wear diapers which she was really not agreeable with. She kept telling me “I’m n
ot a baby anymore.” Still, I forced her. She was really excited to ride the bus which she calls a train at that time, by the way, and amazingly, she never gave me a problem the whole trip. She was enjoying the view and when we got to Butuan, she was still in the highest level of energy, unlike me who was all tired already. That time, I was just glad that she survived the whole 14 hours ride to and from Butuan.

This year, after our Camiguin trip, I can now say that my child is certainly a Certified Biyahera who, for the whole 19 hours to and from Camiguin, she never gave a sign of exhaustion. Never had any tantrum of any sort and this time, she insisted she’d not wear diapers at all.

If you can just imagine, we left Davao Thursday night at 9PM and arrived in
CDO at 3AM. Then we headed towards Balingoan which took 1.5 hours and then boarded MV Yuhum towards Camiguin which was 1 hour long. The whole trip was without stops and rests. Right after arriving in Enigmata, we just changed clothes and had a quick breakfast and then proceeded immediately with our island tour which took the whole day. Our tour lasted until 10PM in the evening. So you see, from Thursday night to Friday night, we never really had much sleep or rest and yet, Pia was still all energetic. The next day, we were off our way back home which will take another 9.5 hours. The whole trip to Davao, she just slept like for an hour. We were all sleeping including the other passengers but she was still playing with her Barney toy and looking out the window just enjoying the view. As for me, I was asleep the whole time.

Pildi ko sa akoa anak oy!!!
